Taylor is our 13 year old daughter who has MPS (mucopolysacchridoses), also known as Sanfillippo Syndrome. When Taylor was four years old, she was diagnosed with this rare and terminal disease; the average life expectancy is 10-15 years. Living with this disease has taught us so much over the years about living each day to the fullest and appreciating every day as a gift from God.
As I posted earlier last week, Matt and I are running the Country Music ½ Marathon on April 24, 2010. Our motto for this race is “Celebrating 13 Years in 13 Miles.” We are so blessed that God has given us the time with Taylor that we have enjoyed and continue to enjoy. Our desire is to run this half marathon together in celebration of her life. Each mile will signify the milestones that she has surpassed, defying numerous medical odds and bringing praise to God for answered prayers!
I’m asking you now to consider supporting our family in this endeavor. I’ll be making more posts to give detailed information about how to do just that as the time draws closer. One of the best ways is to share this link in your Facebook, email or Twitter and help spread the word.
Theme verse for the run? Philippians 4: 13 of course!
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I love the tense of the verb here; it is continual! He doesn’t just give us strength one time or expect us to conserve and budget. His provision is perpetual and unending. Praise be to Him.
