Have you ever been caught off guard?

Run out of gas?

Child forget their school lunch?

Drop the ball on an appointment?

That feeling is such a combination of stupidity and revelation. Maybe you’ve had no change for the toll roads. Perhaps you didn’t think you needed directions, but then couldn’t remember the exact location. Scary how easy I was able to rattle off the examples above; I have been there too many times!

Just simply unprepared. Not thinking ahead of time and taking the necessary steps to avoid the catastrophe.

With the above examples, we have learned our lessons. We check the gas gauge and look for the light. We ask our children about their lunch before leaving the house. We write appointments down and check our calendars in advance. We plan our driving route and review it before the journey begins. We print off a “Mapquest” or pull out the GPS.

So much can be prevented when we take the scout’s motto. Not just physically, but spiritually. David said in Psalm 119:11:

“Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

When was the last time you prepared to deal with the issues Satan flings at you every day? By memorizing God’s Word, you are preparing for battle!

Discouragement surrounds us when we fail to prepare ourselves.

Have you ever been unprepared? What action did you take to correct the problem?
